Let's change the world
My career in communications started researching stories about the culture and history of people in the US-Mexico border working with writer, producer and film maker Paul Espinosa. Paul was a wonderful mentor who inspired in me a commitment to use my skills to amplify people's voices and struggles. My desire to use the power of communication to change the world remained whether as writer and producer for investigative news stories or later as a graphic designer and creative lead for one of the largest global technology companies in the world.
Sally Susman's new book Breaking through: Communicating to Open Minds, Move Hearts and Change the World says that communication is not a soft skill anymore. "It is a rock-hard competency." For many companies creating something new is their focus and strength. Telling the world about their world-changing idea or uniting their team to have a consistent message across channels is more difficult. My job as communicator is to help build bridges between your ideas and your audience so that you can have a clear voice and a strong impact.
Our challenges are too great to work alone. We are living in time of deep transformation that calls us to participate fully to help save our planet and create a better future together. Having the opportunity to work for a large company has shown me the importance of collaboration inside and outside organizations to create strong ecosystems. I hope to create a community of world changers and innovators united in our commitment for save our oceans, trees, creatures and to pass on a healthy planet to the next generations.
